How do PLO odds differ from Texas Hold'em?
In PLO, each player receives 4 hole cards instead of 2, and you must use exactly 2 hole cards plus 3 community cards to make your hand. This creates far more possible hand combinations, which means equities run much closer together. A hand with 60% equity in PLO is a much bigger favorite than the same percentage in Hold'em.
What are the best starting hands in PLO?
The strongest PLO starting hands feature four coordinated cards that work together. Top hands include double-suited aces like AAKKds, rundown hands like JT98ds, and double-paired hands with suits. Unlike Hold'em where pocket aces dominate, even AAxx in PLO rarely has more than 65-70% equity preflop against a reasonable range.
